about

Written for 'For Love and Duty Players' production of 'Proof' by David Auburn at the WOW Cafe Theatre.

Inspired by the characters of Catherine and Robert, with a little bit of me thrown in.

lyrics

Here we are again
Another goodbye
Here we are again
With tears in our eyes
You know I must be going
When I'll come back
I've know way of knowing
You say it's fine
But the truth is showing
Cause you can hardly stand
Not knowing

If I see you again
Will things be the same
Or will I just be an empty face
Without a name?
Will you still be
The person I adore?
Or just a stranger
I'll learn to ignore
I can hardly stand not knowing
But still
I'm going
The love that was paid
Is it still owing?
We can hardly stand
Not knowing

Hold me one more time
Make me feel it
I'll tell you things will be fine
I'll try to mean it
We'll see each other again
I'll make you believe it
It's not the truth
But the truth
We don't need it
Because anything is better than not knowing
And now I'm turning and I'm going
You can't see my face now it's showing
I can hardly stand
Not knowing
